Auto Club 500

Great Nextel Cup Auto Club 500 race. Greg Biffle won, and he is 2 for 3. The Roush Racing team (which Crown Royal sponsors) is doing great.

I have a flight in the late afternoon tomorrow, won't get into NYC until past midnight. Probably won't make it home till 2 am or so.

Live from Fontana

Hi from California Speedway.

I just watched the American Racing Wheels 200 truck series, fun. I can't believe how fast these trucks go, over 170 mph.

Kind of a long day. We got new brand ambassadors, trained them. They did good. We didn't get much of a crowd today, so it served as a good training session. I'm sure it will be a lot more crowded tomorrow.

The drive from the airport yesterday took forever. I hit rush hour L.A. traffic. Unbelievable, a plethora of highways crisscrossing, all completely jammed.

Mon eve

Just got back home. The flight from Florida to NY got delayed a few times due to bad weather in NY. It's cold out, snow everywhere . It was 80 in Daytona Beach this afternoon.

I've decided I need to oversee at least the Fontana and Vegas races to make sure things get moving smoothly. I fly to LAX Thu morning.

The whole crew was sick and exhausted this morning. I think I managed to escape it. Actually I haven't been sick in years. I can't even remember the last time I had to stay home bc of being sick.

Going to grab something to eat.

Friday night - Daytona Intl. Speedway

The first day of the CR experience is over. Exhausting, but very rewarding. The brand ambassadors got here around 7:30 am. We trained them, then opened up the tent around 10 am. Stressful for the first couple hours, but got past the initial glitches. The girls learned how to use the tablets super-fast. It was chilly in the early morning and late afternoon (they weren't wearning too many clothes), we'll get them some space heaters tomorrow.

Everything worked out fine. Huge effort from the production team, our crew and the girls, they did great.

Attended a private party at 8 pm. The driver who won today's IROC race showed up. His car was outside our tent for a while, I took a few pics.

We do it all over tomorrow, and then Sunday.

The crowds, the smell of burning rubber and gas, and the (very) loud cars make for quite a unique experience.
